Florida Mayor Testifies Against Ex-Boyfriend in Violent Assault Case

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis testified this week that his 34-year-old former boyfriend Daniel Curran violently attacked him outside his $1 million pink mansion in Fort Lauderdale.

Trantalis, 72, appeared virtually before a Broward County court, alleging that Curran threw him to the ground during a confrontation that has now escalated into a criminal case.

Authorities say Curran was arrested Wednesday and charged with violating a domestic violence injunction and battery on a person aged 65 or older, a felony offense under Florida law.

Court records show the mayor had obtained a restraining order against Curran several months ago, describing their relationship as “a very complicated situation.”

Law enforcement sources confirm that the investigation remains ongoing, and prosecutors are reviewing evidence related to the alleged assault.

Officials have not said whether the mayor sustained injuries or required medical care after the incident.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department has stated that no additional details will be released at this time due to the active nature of the case.
