!TERRORIST!Opens Fire in Midtown Manhattan, Killing Four Including NYPD Officer Before Taking His Own Life

Midtown, Manhattan – July 28, 2025 — A gunman carrying an assault rifle opened fire inside a Midtown Manhattan office tower on Monday afternoon, killing four people — including a police officer — before taking his own life, authorities confirmed.
Security footage and images circulating online showed the suspect, dressed in a sport coat and button-down shirt, walking with a large rifle near 345 Park Avenue, a building that houses major corporate tenants including Blackstone and the NFL.
The gunman was identified by law enforcement sources as Shane Tamura, 27, a licensed private investigator from Las Vegas. According to investigators, Tamura arrived in Manhattan earlier that day by car. He entered the building just before 6:30 p.m. with a firearm legally permitted under a Nevada concealed weapons license issued by the Las Vegas Sheriff’s Department.
Tamura reportedly opened fire in the building’s lobby, where approximately 30 people were present at the time. The chaos prompted an immediate and massive emergency response, including a Level 3 Mobilization from the NYPD.
Among those killed was Officer Didarul Islam, who had been working a private security detail at the building. He was shot in the back during the initial moments of the attack. Three other individuals were wounded; their conditions remain unknown as of this writing.
Authorities say Tamura then made his way up to the 33rd floor — the location of Blackstone’s corporate headquarters — where he was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No link has been established between Tamura and the NFL or Blackstone.
In a statement released on X (formerly Twitter), NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said, “The lone shooter has been neutralized. The scene is now contained.”
Footage shared on social media captured heavily armed NYPD officers in tactical gear entering the building with weapons drawn. The building went into immediate lockdown as police swept each floor.

A Troubled Past
Tamura’s background is now under intense scrutiny by federal and local authorities. Raised in Hawaii, he was a standout athlete and junior varsity football player, once seen as a young man with potential and discipline. In a resurfaced video clip from his high school days, Tamura celebrated a game-winning performance, expressing pride in teamwork and perseverance.
However, after relocating to Las Vegas, Tamura’s life took a darker turn. Though he acquired a private investigator’s license and was legally armed, there are no public records explaining what led him to plan such a violent and targeted attack.
“Police want to know what brought him to that building, who or what the target was, and what the grievance or motive behind it might have been,” said former NYPD Deputy Commissioner and CNN analyst John Miller. “It appears that he knew this would be his last stand.”
Investigators are currently reviewing Tamura’s vehicle, cell phone, and electronic devices in search of evidence or a manifesto that could shed light on his motives.
A City in Shock
The tragedy has left New Yorkers shaken. 345 Park Avenue sits in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, one of the most secure and densely populated corporate corridors in the country.
As law enforcement continues piecing together Tamura’s final days, the shooting has reignited concerns over gun control, mental health, and cross-jurisdictional firearm licensing.
This is a developing story. Updates will follow as new information becomes available.
