A heated judicial race is unfolding in Somerset County as Amy Thomas, a local attorney, has officially announced her candidacy for Magisterial District Judge in District 16-3-02, which covers Windber, Central City, Hooversville, Paint, and surrounding areas.
Thomas, a Republican, revealed her campaign plans on Facebook, confirming that she will cross-file to appear on both the Democratic and Republican ballots in the upcoming spring primaries.
The seat is currently held by Judge William Seger, but Thomas is positioning herself as the alternative to what people call a ‘do-nothing’ and a “abusive” racist judge who has failed to serve the community effectively.
