Orange City Police Officer Arrested for Stalking and Illegal Database Use

Orange City, FL – An Orange City police officer accused of illegally using his work computer to track the whereabouts of his former girlfriend is facing termination, officials confirmed Thursday.

Officer Jarmarus Brown, 29, was arrested Tuesday night after turning himself in at the Volusia County Branch Jail. Authorities charged him with stalking and unauthorized access of a computer system/network—a felony offense that resulted in damages exceeding $5,000.

Officer Faces Immediate Termination

According to Orange City Police Capt. Jason Ward, Brown will be fired on Friday unless he appeals the department’s termination notice. His arrest follows an internal investigation that uncovered his misuse of law enforcement databases to monitor his ex-girlfriend’s movements.

Brown was booked into jail on a $15,000 bond and is expected to face serious legal consequences for his actions.

Growing Concerns Over Law Enforcement Misuse of Power

Cases of police officers misusing official databases for personal reasons have raised concerns about privacy violations and abuse of power. “This is a clear breach of trust,” said a legal expert familiar with the case. “Law enforcement officers are granted access to sensitive information for public safety—not personal vendettas.”

Authorities have yet to confirm if additional charges will be filed. Meanwhile, Orange City Police Department assures the public that they are taking the situation very seriously and will pursue disciplinary action accordingly
